It’s near the end of the winter garden. The lettuce and greens bed has only a small stand of spinach and the chard, which no longer has to compete for light and water. I gathered what lettuce had not bolted and prepared a ceremonial “last salad” for lunch on Saturday.
Everything came from the garden: lettuce, oranges, calendula petals and violas–a fitting celebration at the end of the winter garden, the second season garden here in San Diego.
Some of the remnants dispatched to the compost bin.
Harvest Monday is hosted by Daphne’s Dandelions. It’s a time to share what you’re harvesting in your garden or how you’re using it.
