All in winter garden
Who knew that five year old saved seed of Red Frills mustard greens would germinate so robustly?
Create your own winter herb garden meadow of dill, cilantro and parsley. Sprinkle seeds in prepared soil if you have the room. Or put one plant of each in a 12-inch container or corner of a raised bed. Thank you Sunset Magazine for the idea.
Last week we headed to Seattle to visit our son, his wife and our first grandchild, Shiloh James who is now a month old. My three-family winter garden is very productive now so I brought an extra carry-on sized suitcase mostly filled with the garden bounty and a few small gifts.
My Harvest Monday post this week will be photos of the veggies and fruit as I packed them. We shared the salad in the photo above—all from the garden.
Here’s the kitchen part of “In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen.” Spinach from the garden and navel oranges from our tree with a drizzle of olive oil, wrapped in parchment and baked made a sumptuous meal.
