It’s strawberry season in my garden. Each one is savored as they ripen. I only have six plants this year since I planted them in my new raised beds instead of the usual spot with the marionberries.

Many of the strawberries are this large. They seem to like my new raised bed soil and the winter rains. And good news–they’re sweet and very tasty.

The blueberries are plentiful now as well so we have them everyday.

I pulled the last of the broccoli plants to make way for the tomatoes. The small side shoots work well in a saute with celery, green onions and fresh thyme from the garden. I top it off with grated Parmesan for a great lunch.

I also declared that kale season is over and made my last Tuscan Kale Salad last week.

The ‘Third Harmonic’ alstromerias burst into bloom this week. Waning daylight in the kitchen often puts my bouquets in their best light.
