The garden continues in transition. We feasted on the last of the purple artichokes, which despite their wicked thorns are the best artichokes I’ve ever grown.

Though the spinach was bolting, it was delicious steamed. Several other bolted plants were beyond transport to the kitchen and instead went to my neighbor’s turtles who consider it dessert.

There are still a few dozen navel oranges on the tree and the blueberries outside the kitchen door continue to delight.

The purple cabbage weighed in at over four pounds. So good added to salads or as slaw.

Last week I harvested a couple dozen carrots. There’s a child’s delight as each one is pulled from the ground. It’s a decent crop considering they were not properly thinned. The task coincided with my knee surgery and a thicket ensued.
