The nascent fall-winter garden holds promise but yields no harvests just yet so I looked elsewhere. Rose scented geranium lemonade with violas was perfect for a Sunday afternoon.

The fragrant, lightly rose scented lemonade is easy to make. Combine a half cup of sugar and half cup of water and bring to a boil. Turn off the heat and add about eight rose scented geranium leaves. Cover and let cool to room temperature.

Make your favorite lemonade recipe and add 1-2 tablespoons of the flavored syrup to each glass. The light rosy scent is fresh and less flowery but perfect with the lemonade. A variant on my favorite lavender lemonade.

Try Tea Cake with Meyer Lemons and Rose Geraniums. The leaves placed in the bottom of your cake pan leave a lovely imprint.

Rose scented geraniums are easy to grow and thrive in a container or in the ground in mild winter areas. Cuttings root easily and you can read more about rose scented geraniums here.

There were a few blueberries on the patio bush so I had them with a seasonal Bartlett pair. Lavender scented sugar adds a little sweetness and flavor.
