With the last flush of strawberry guavas I made the puree into jam a few weeks ago. Didn’t snap the picture until about six departed to friends and family.

My favorite way to eat the strawberry guava jam with the sweet, salty thing going on a stone wheat cracker.

Only two ‘Gordon’ apples this year and they’re smallish and imperfect. There used to be a neighborhood pollinator and we’d harvest a decent crop. My husband intends to learn how to graft so we can make use of the good scaffolding and hopefully get more apples.

The Sunday church bouquet: gathered eucalyptus, Mexican tulip poppies from the alley, a late ‘Hot Cocoa’ rose, yarrow, rue and milkweed.
