Herb Tea with a Lemon Theme
August 1, 2012
Monday I was feeling a bit under the weather–one of those days after a unsatisfactory night’s sleep–a slight headache and queasy stomach. My pace slowed to match my energy. Though the day was warm, a cup of herb tea seemed a pleasant pause in my day.
Recently I bought a lemon balm plant which was a bit misshapen. Trimming it became an occasion to make my own herb tea. I also gathered some lemon verbena and let the two herbs steep covered in my mug for about ten minutes before removing the herbs.
What a delight! Why had I not done this before? I savored the warm, fragrant tea and the calming interlude. I seemed to turn the corner with that cup of lemon-herb tea. The queasiness subsided and the worries that dogged me in the morning seemed not so serious. Could I attribute the change to my cup of tea? Probably not, but I’ll likely try this again soon or perhaps an iced version.
