A Study in Purple and Orange

April 18, 2012

I lightly peeled and then sliced my purple carrots for a salad. Mine aren’t as solidly purple as in the Renee’s Garden image for ‘Circus Circus’ Tricolor Carrots. Perhaps I have a cross between 'Purple Rain’ and the orange carrot. Read more about 'Circus Circus’ here. (See previous post to see the just harvested carrots).

The dinner salad became a study in purple and orange as I added calendula petals to my mesclun lettuce. Then I remembered the purple sprouting broccoli.

Ok, I  got carried away and photographed the salad with a bouquet of wind poppies and larkspur that was in the kitchen.

Wonder what the next carrots I pull will look like? These were “reliably sweet with a nice crunchy texture” as advertised.
