In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen

In My San Diego Garden and Kitchen

Harvests were similar to last week—just zucchini, apricots and marionberries though a few off-bloom oranges dropped from the tree and we squeezed them for juice.

Apricot season is now over. Last week I made nine jars of apricot jam but forgot to snap a photo. It’s a family favorite. Next year I’ll make more.

I also made apricot ice cream for a Fourth of July gathering.

Zucchini and spring onions combine well as a side. I had peppers in the freezer to use which added color and zip.

The lavender has just come into bloom around my garden. With lime juice frozen from earlier harvests, I made lavender limeade, akin to Lavender Lemonade I’ve made often.

This was a long awaited floral composition: Apricotta cosmos and Chocolate Lace Flower grown from seed. Nearby, the alstroemeria and Ambridge rose provide garden harmonies.

Check the What I’m Planting Now page as I plant the summer garden. Then head today to Harvest Monday, hosted by Dave at Happy Acres blog and see what garden bloggers around the world harvested last week.
