The Wonder of Seeds

I marvel every time a planted seed germinates and grows to produce a harvest. That my eight-inch head of broccoli has grown from the tiny seed planted and nurtured is a wonder to me.

And I ask the question, “By what miracle does a small seed—hard, dry and apparently lifeless—transform itself into a living plant? And it is a miracle, one of the most impressive miracles in all of nature.” (Laidback Gardener)

It is seed season now. We prepare our orders and plan for the spring and summer gardens.

Though I do not believe that a plant will spring up where no seed has been, I have great faith in a seed. Convince me that you have a seed there, and I am prepared to expect wonders.
Henry David Thoreau

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seeds that you plant.
Robert Louis Stevenson

It takes a noble man to plant a seed for a tree that will someday give shade to people he may never meet.” Elton Trueblood
