French Sorrel, Seed to Harvest in 60 Days

French Sorrel, Seed to Harvest in 60 Days

Recently I did a post on Vegetables that Grow in Less Than 2 Months. French sorrel is another one you can add to the list. Plant it from seed and in 60 days you’ll be adding it to salads or making fresh pesto. It’s perennial in zones 4-10 so I put it in the “permanent edible” category. It will be around your garden for many years.

Other positive attributes are described by Johnny’s Seeds: “Produces some of the earliest greens of spring and the latest of fall. The tender, fresh green leaves grow to about 8" long and have an intense lemony flavor.”

I’d add that it does well in a container and mine thrives in a few hours of sun and bright shade. It’s a lovely plant for a patio or garden plot. It will creep to increase in size so I keep it in a pot. Friends who traveled to France described seeing it used as an edging for paths.
