Come wander through the garden with me. The transition to the winter garden continues. The days are pleasantly sunny and warm, the nights cool and dewy.

I planted a six-pack of lettuce since my lettuce seedlings are not ready to transplant. I prefer this to buying lettuce at the store. The celery thrives with the night chill, shorter days and extra water.

Mulch of dried grass and pine needles surround the broccoli plants now.

The bush green beans declined and were removed and the half bed is prepped for cauliflower, Romanesco and cabbage.

It was time to thin the beets today.

The micro-green thinnings will be added to a salad.

Two swaths of carrots and a band of radishes are growing well.

And the big view of the four by seven foot raised bed.

Elsewhere in the yard, the strawberry guavas near the finish of their fall run.

And the ‘Dorsett Golden’ apple tree is laden with its second crop of the season.

The zinnias continue to bloom with abandon seemingly unaware that summer has past.
