Farewell to Zinnias

Farewell to Zinnias

Tomorrow I’ll remove the zinnias from my vegetable garden. I plant them with the veggies to cheer me as I work and also to attract pollinators. As I cleaned them up recently I noticed ladybugs and the larvae of various beneficials. The monarchs like them too.

I’ve brought bouquets of zinnias in the house for several months and they’ve added structure, color and life to my mixed bouquets. Now as their season ends I made three simple bouquets with what truly are the remnants. These are not the best of the season but they are zinnias in September.
